Movie Theatre Under The Stars and Gather Round Concerts

I don’t know about anyone else, but I was pretty shocked (in a good way) to hear that we have an outdoor Movie Theatre and also Gather Round outdoor concerts at some of our UK Holiday Parks this summer. I have personally never been to an outdoor Movie Theatre before but have always loved the idea of it, so I’ll definitely planning my family holiday for a few weeks’ time. We trialled the concept of an outdoor movie theatre on one or two Parks last year and it was hugely popular, so, back by popular demand, it is now at lots of our Parks this season.

If you haven’t yet booked a holiday but want to get away and you fancy a unique and entertaining experience while you’re here, then check out the dates and locations below.

MOVIE THEATRE UNDER THE STARS

Classic movies will be showing around the UK on specific dates – under the stars! It’s got a real ‘festival’ feel to it, so bring your picnic blankets and get ready to watch your favourite films on our giant outdoor screen. For more information on what’s showing, be sure to give the Holiday Park a call and make sure you book quickly to avoid disappointment. Once booked, just pray for sunshine :-) The movie will still be shown if the weather is wet, but it won’t be such a unique experience if it’s moved indoors. It’s all about the ‘Under the stars’ part you see. (The pic above is just representative, not a real photo on our parks as the big events haven’t happened yet).

GATHER ROUND CONCERTS

Park Resorts is making full use of the great outdoors with these Gather Round Concerts! There really is something quite rare and special about sitting outside in the warm evening sunshine listening to a concert from a live band or local group. A whole series of summer concerts are planned, and again, don’t worry if it rains – all of our concerts are designed so they can easily be performed inside too!

Gather Round is available at the following parks on the following dates:

  • Coopers Beach – 7/7  28/7  11/8
  • Crimdon Dene – 28/7  04/08  11/08  18/08

  1. Shame that you seem to ignore Highfield Grange once again.
Lets see….open air theatre….nope, open air concert….nope, open mic nights …..nope,WOW weekends….nope. oh hang on ,we get the new activity club for teens ….woop de woo.
This is one of the reasons that we are selling our van back at the end of this season

    • I’m really sorry to hear that you’ll be leaving Highfield Grange soon. It’s true that these particular events aren’t happening at Highfield, but being one of our lively parks there are lots of other activities there which other parks don’t have – like popdance, the teen activities, more shows and cabaret etc. Sorry you’re not loving Highfield like you used to :-( Do you mind if I ask what’s changed?

  2. Our person travelling around with the Movie Theatre Under The Stars has kindly written a daily Blog for us. Thanks Karen.
Here’s the first few installments of the Movie Theatre Under The Stars – Park Resorts Tour 2012…

    Day One
It’s 10:30am and the van (affectionately named Timmy), has been loaded with the outdoor cinema equipment and now ready to depart. A quick swig of my tea and an encouraging wave on the way from the Office team… and the journey begins!
Departing Luton and straight onto the M1 to venture across England and over the borders into Scotland for destination number one, Eyemouth.

Arrival time at the park is 16:30 where I check-in with the Ents Manager Tilly to discuss the evenings schedule. Everything is good to go with our only small concern being the unpredictable weather ahead!

I then make it my mission to collect weather reports from various locations in order to gather accurate predictions…

It seems however that luck (nor weather) is due to be on our side. We hold off til the last possible moment as the sky appears to get darker, clouds full and ready to burst! It’s chilly and the wind is starting to pick up. Not the ideal scenario for our premier of the Movie Theatre Under The Stars!

Eyemouth premier = Cancelled on this occasion – fingers crossed for tomorrow evening. Day two at Crimdon Dene…… to be continued…
